WHEN IT ALL RESTS ON YOU

You were a wife. Now you’re a caregiver. You’re still married. To the same person. Except he’s not actually the same person…

This site is about me. It’s about you. It’s about every wife that wakes up one day in a relationship that’s 50/50. Maybe he takes care of the cars, does the yard work, makes repairs around the house and also has a job. You might pay the bills, do laundry, dust, and vacuum. And let’s not forget that you work full time also. You split the rest. You take turns cooking, doing dishes, other housework, grocery shopping. Maybe you sometimes do more, maybe he does – maybe it depends on which one of you is asked as to who says who is doing more!
But the next day you wake up and you’re alone. You’re now doing it ALL.
Every. Single. Thing.
And you’re still working. And you now have another full-time job – caregiver.
Your strong, protecting, providing husband is now completely reliant on you. He’s not strong, he can’t provide for you, he can’t protect you. And some days he may even have trouble remembering you or the bond you’ve shared for years or even decades. His personality may be different. A stranger may have taken his place. But you look at him and you still see the man he was.
This site is for you.

YOUR NEW AREA OF EXPERTISE

You will learn things you never thought you needed to know

My name is Teresa and my husband had a stroke on May 31st of 2017 that changed our lives forever.

I had to learn so many things I never thought I would need to know. The term DME (durable medical equipment) meant absolutely nothing to me. Leg braces, tens units, rock tape, shoulder braces, hand braces. I can now tell you many things about those items and why they are important.

Urinals, adjustable beds, the right way to help someone up, helping your spouse bathe, figuring out how to fit a wheelchair through a door or up a step. All things I never planned to learn about. And now? I feel I’m reaching expert status!
