We’ve had many hand braces for my stroke survivor (SS), but this post is going to focus on the brace an occupational therapist (OT) recommended to help keep my husband’s fingers straight. His fingers were curling on the paralyzed hand and we needed to get them straighter.
The OT tried making him a brace of hard plastic, but it was not at all comfortable and therefore he refused to use it (he was supposed to wear it overnight while sleeping).
After discussing it with her, we found one on Amazon that was the same one – same brand and all – she had her supply book but for a better price.
This brace has a soft cover and is more comfortable. He still is not wearing it overnight but can tolerate it for a couple of hours at a time. We’re going to work up to a longer stretch of time and then try it overnight.
